The Scottish Group of the Institute for Archaeologists (SGIfA) organised this excellent one day course on archaeological survey techniques at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh, postponed until today due to the December snows. With theory and hands-on sessions, including simple but effective plane tabling to use of a high precision GPS rover system, the course proved an excellent refresher in survey theory and practice. Archaeologists with a wide range of roles and interests attended. This training will be extremely useful for future Dendrochronicle woodland archaeology and cultural landscape projects.
